20 foods you should be eating more of (2)

Turkey
Turkey is high in protein, just like chicken and is incredibly lean, meaning it is perfect for a low-fat diet or if you exercise a lot.

Quinoa
Full of protein, amino acids (all of them), magnesium, iron and copper, this grain is thought to help people who suffer from migraines and diabetes. It's particularly good in salads and, because of the protein, will make you feel full up for longer.

Prunes
Full of protein, amino acids (all of them), magnesium, iron and copper, this grain is thought to help people who suffer from migraines and diabetes. It's particularly good in salads and, because of the protein, will make you feel full up for longer.

Frozen Berries
Almost as good as the real thing, loading up your freezer with chilled berries allows you to enjoy antioxidant-rich delights such as blueberries and raspberries all year round.

Fennel
It's a surprisingly rich source of vitamin C, a nutrient which the body is unable to produce on its own. Vitamin C prevents cell damage, looks after your joints and protects your immune system. The high fibre, folate and potassium content also promotes cardiovascular and colon health.

Swiss Chard
The phytonutrients and fibre keep your digestive system healthy while high levels of vitamin K are known to promote bone health. Its vitamin C reserves, meanwhile, boost your immune system.

Liver
Liver contains B vitamins, vitamin A, zinc, selenium, protein, vitamin C and iron. Liver is therefore good for your cardiovascular health and immune system, energy levels and for cancer prevention.

Turmeric
Turmeric is an excellent source of curcumin, which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and protection against bowel cancer. If you're making spicey food, sprinkle it on liberally.

Brown Rice
So why is brown rice better than white? The production of brown rice retains most of the nutritional value, while turning it into white rice strips away much of the B vitamins, iron, fibre and essential fatty acids.

Chillies
Did you know that chillies can speed up your metabolism and help you lose weight? As well as being full of vitamin A, C and fibre, chilli can increase the amount of calories you work off by 15%. Burn baby burn!

20 foods you should be eating more of (1)

20 foods you should be eating more of:

Frozen peas
Chilling peas almost as soon as they are picked keeps them high in B vitamins for energy, vitamin C to fight illness and soluble fibre to keep your cholesterol level happy.

Baked beans
Baked beans deliver a protein shot equivalent to that of an egg. Baked beans are also full of soluble fibre and are low in fat and calories.

Poached eggs
The main benefit of eating eggs is the high levels of protein, which helps the body to maintain muscle and makes you feel full up for longer. Poaching is the best way to eat them.

Dark Chocolate
Milk chocolate far outsells dark chocolate, but the latter is much better for you as it is rich in antioxidants, which help the body fight illness. Go for one that contains at least 70% cocoa and, if you want a real buzz, try a 100% cocoa variety.

Peppermint Tea
Peppermint tea, with naturally high levels of essential oils, is known to aid digestion, promote calm and is caffeine free, so won't keep you awake at night.

Red Cabbage
The deep red colour in red cabbage comes from flavanoids, an antioxidant that protects against cancer. The vegetable is also high in vitamin C, calcium and sulphoraphane, another cancer-fighting chemical.

Raw Beetroot
Fresh beetroot is best. Heating beetroot decreases the health kick, so have it grated onto a salad to benefit from high levels of folate, a B vitamin that protects your heart and, like red cabbage, antioxidants that can prevent cancer.

Sardines
Sardines are high in essential fatty acids, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, copper and vitamins A and B. Just don't eat them for lunch at work, unless you enjoy eating on your own.

Oysters
Oysters are one of the best concentrated sources of zinc, which protects the immune system. Oysters are also low in fat and calories, bad cholesterol and are thought to maintain collagen levels and thus keeping our skin wrinkle and sag-free.

Edamame Beans
Soya beans are thought to be the only vegetable to contain all nine amino acids and is a protein source to rival chicken, red meat or eggs. Edamame are also high in vitamin C and fibre.

Are you still complaining (2)

Are you still complaining? (1)

I recently got the following message and I'd like to share it with you.

If you think you are unhappy, look at them.

If you think your salary is low, how about her?

If you think you don't have any friends

When you feel like giving up, think of this man.

If you think you suffer in life, do you think you suffer as much as he does?

If you complain about your transport system, how about theirs?

My first ice cream

Strawberry Sorbet

It's actually quite easy to make ice cream. You only need:
Strawberry (500 g )
Caster sugar (3/4 cup)
Water (200 ml)
Lemon Juice (half the lemon) - I didn't have lemon so I used lime

That's it! I'm not telling you how. Secret recipe! (not really. Actually lazy :P)

Dear Diary and Friends 19 February 2010

I just spent the last two days learning how to make ice cream at Suan Dusit (not the zoo alright? - in case that's what you're thinking). We had to work in groups and learned how to make 5 different types of ice cream. They are vanilla (of course - the classic), green tea, Thai tea, cookie and cream, and the last one is banoffee pie (banana+toffee sauce+pie). Banoffee pie is the best one (i think). Others are quite sweet and the flavours aren't rich enough. If I were to make it again, I'd make it richer, creamy, and tastier. But first I need to get an ice cream maker. lol

I think it's nice to do something new for a change. If you've been wanting to try something, now it's time to do it! Don't wait! Never let anything stop you from doing what you want.

Anyway, I'll let you all know how ice cream goes.

Why do we kiss??? Tell me please!

Her eyes are wide as they stare into yours. You wrap your arm around her waist and pull her in close. She touches your face and you lean in, tilt your head – to the right, of course – and your lips connect. The rushing sensation leaves you little room to wonder, “Why the hell am I doing this anyway?”

Of course, the simplest answer is that humans kiss because it just feels good. But there are people for whom this explanation isn’t quite sufficient. They formally study the anatomy and evolutionary history of kissing and call themselves philematologists.
So far, these kiss scientists haven’t conclusively explained how human smooching originated, but they’ve come up with a few theories, and they’ve mapped out how our biology is affected by a passionate lip-lock.

A big question is whether kissing is learned or instinctual. Some say it is a learned behavior, dating back to the days of our early human ancestors. Back then, mothers may have chewed food and passed it from their mouths into those of their toothless infants. Even after babies cut their teeth, mothers would continue to press their lips against their toddlers’ cheeks to comfort them.

Supporting the idea that kissing is learned rather than instinctual is the fact that not all humans kiss. Certain tribes around the world just don’t make out, anthropologists say. While 90 percent of humans actually do kiss, 10 percent have no idea what they’re missing.

Others believe kissing is indeed an instinctive behavior, and cite animals’ kissing-like behaviors as proof. While most animals rub noses with each other as a gesture of affection, others like to pucker up just like humans. Bonobos, for example, make up tons of excuses to swap some spit. They do it to make up after fights, to comfort each other, to develop social bonds, and sometimes for no clear reason at all – just like us.

Today, the most widely accepted theory of kissing is that humans do it because it helps us sniff out a quality mate. When our faces are close together, our pheromones “talk” – exchanging biological information about whether or not two people will make strong offspring. Women, for example, subconsciously prefer the scent of men whose genes for certain immune system proteins are different from their own. This kind of match could yield offspring with stronger immune systems, and better chances for survival.

Still, most people are satisfied with the explanation that humans kiss because it feels good. Our lips and tongues are packed with nerve endings, which help intensify all those dizzying sensations of being in love when we press our mouths to someone else’s. Experiencing such feelings doesn’t usually make us think too hard about why we kiss – instead, it drives us to find ways to do it more often.

Music: Turn me on

Like a flower waiting to bloom
Like a lightbulb in a dark room
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come home and turn me on

Like the desert waiting for the rain
Like a school kid waiting for the spring
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come on home and turn me on

My poor heart, it's been so dark since you been gone
After all, you're the one who turns me off
You're the only one who can turn me back on

My hi-fi's waiting for a new tune
The glass is waiting for some fresh ice cubes
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come on home and turn me on
Turn me on

Around the World: Boring

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........

Dear Diary and Friends 6 Feb 2010

I had a chance to talk about many things in class today. One thing I learn from it is that you don't have to be smart or a genius if you want to be rich but you just have to be different. To be different, we have to do, think, and feel differently about everything we come across. Talk to different kind of people. Eat different food. Watch different genre of movies. Read different kind of books or magazine. Go somewhere new. Play or do different kind of sports.... and so on.

Try that and tell me if you feel any different.

Something I love about thee

Let's talk about love... and what you love about someone you love. :P

  • I love the sparkling look in your eyes.
  • I love the beautiful smile on your face.
  • I love the smell of your hair.
  • I love your soft cheeks.
  • I love your sweet juicy lips.
  • I love the way you look at me.
  • I love the way you hold me.
  • I love the way you kiss me.
  • I love the way you touch me.
  • I love the way you care about me.
  • I love the way you inspire me.
  • I love the way you bring out the best in me.
  • I love the way you are.
  • I love the way you love me.

Enough from me... I want to hear it from you guys.

10 days to Valentine's Day

Here is something someone said about 'LOVE':

'I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out.'

'Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love.'

'Love life and life will love you back. Love people and they will love you back.'

'Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver.'

'If you aren't good at loving yourself, you will have a difficult time loving anyone, since you'll resent the time and energy you give another person that you aren't even giving to yourself.'

'I love thee, I love but thee
With a love that shall not die
Till the sun grows cold,
And the stars grow old...'

'The good life is inspired by love and guided by knowledge.'

'Why love if losing hurts so much? We love to know that we are not alone.'

'There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved.'

'If I know what love is, it is because of you.'

'We can only learn to love by loving.'

'Love is a promise, love is a souvenir, once given never forgotten, never let it disappear.'

'Do you love me because I'm beautiful,
or am I am beautiful because you love me?'

'Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring.'

'Better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all.'

'We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection.'

'Where there is great love, there are always miracles.'

How time flies!

Can you believe it? This is already the second month of the year. I hope things have been alright for everyone here so far. Today, I have some quotes about time. Just as a reminder for you to make the most of it.

'Remember that time is money. '

'Never leave that till to-morrow which you can do to-day. '

'All that really belongs to us is time; even he who has nothing else has that.'

'Nothing is as far away as one minute ago.'

'A single day is enough to make us a little larger.'

'Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.'

'How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.'

'There is never enough time to do everything, but there is always enough time to do the most important thing.'

'Whatever begins, also ends.'

Fresh Orange Chiffon Cake

A chiffon cake is a very light cake made with vegetable oil, eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder, and flavorings. Chiffon cakes is foam cakes, achieve a fluffy texture by beating egg whites until stiff, and folding them into the cake batter before baking. Today, I introduce you with my recipe, Fresh Orange Chiffon Cake.

1. Separate the eggs and place the whites in one bowl and the yolks in another.

2.Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C and have ready an ungreased 8 or 9-inch round cake pan.

3.In the bowl place the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Beat until combined. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the oil, egg yolks, orange juice. Beat about one minute or until smooth.

4.In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar and sugar until they form very stiff peaks. Gently fold (do not stir) the egg whites into the first mixture until well blended.

5.Mix the egg yolks batter with the white egg form gradually.

6.Pour the batter into the ungreased round cake pan and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. (When lightly pressed the cake will spring back).

7.Immediately upon removing the cake from the oven invert the pan. Let the cake cool completely before removing from pan (about 1 1/2 - 2 hours).

8.To remove the cake from the pan, run a long metal spatula around the inside of the round cake pan. Invert onto a greased wire rack.

9.In a separate bowl, mix the agar sugar, corn flour with orange juice. Put on the stove and bring to a gentle boil over low heat, stirring constantly.

10. When the mixture is thick, remove from the heat. add butter and stir quickly until the butter melt .

11. Pour and dip the cake quickly.

12.Before you enjoy to eat, please, chill Fresh Orange Chiffon Cake. You will get the best taste
